Now Hosted on BrightBox(es)
Last week, on a train with flaky wifi, Alan posted the session list for the conference and forgot to add any caching. Our little rails app became a greasy hole in the ground and the server was so crushed, he couldn’t even ssh back on to fix it.
Alan’s been soundly beaten and the caching problem was fixed…however…
During the panic, Brightbox offered to host the site for us on a much more solid rig, which may actually have survived the cacheless frenzy, but we’ll never know.
We figured it would be silly to turn down the generous offer of a couple of load-balanced 1Gig servers in case Alan decided to pull the same stunt next year.
A big thanks to Brightbox !

We Have a Program !
Choosing sessions this year was extraordinarily hard. We had more than 80 proposals and initially we planned on only 20 slots.
We added another track, bringing the total to three, so we were able to accept more than 30 proposals!
There were still so many proposals we couldn’t accept, but we hope those submitters will submit again next year.
This year, we’ve tried really hard to create a balanced program. Low and High level material, fresh and experienced, local and foreign presenters.
We haven’t organised a schedule yet, so we’re not sure which talks will be be on which days, or which rooms, but we thought you’d like to see the program as a work in progress.
We hope you’re as excited about this program as we are.

Saturday night is party night!
We were so sad to finish last year’s conference that we have decided to extend this year’s with The Official Scottish Ruby Conference Party(*).
We will be laying on entertainment, food, and a bar on in the Royal College of Physicians’ Great Hall on the evening of the 27th March.
Hooray!

Gold Sponsors - Microsoft
We’re pretty excited to welcome our new sponsors – Microsoft. With the imminent arrival of IronRuby 1.0 we should look forward to welcoming a new influx of Rubyists from the land of .Net. Here’s that word from our sponsor:-
Microsoft is working hard to help Open Source developers take advantage of Windows, the .NET Framework and the new Windows Azure Platform for cloud computing to build great applications. Did you know that Ruby on Rails can be deployed on Windows Azure? Did you know that Microsoft makes IronRuby, a version of Ruby that works great with the .NET Framework or that we have developed an a Open Source MVC framework? Have you heard of the Codeplex Foundation, a foundation created to help commercial software companies and open source communities effectively collaborate? If you want to find out more about Microsoft’s work in any of these areas, then keep an eye out for members of our UK team who will be available throughout the conference.

We are working hard on selection and hope to have a preliminary programme available in the next few weeks.
